FAQs
What is mat pilates?
Mat Pilates is a low-impact workout focused on improving strength, flexibility, posture, and body awareness. Classes are performed on a mat using your body weight and small props like resistance bands, balls, and rings. We also have strength and cardio classes. Strength classes include working through a dumbbell circuit with the intention of building strength endurance. Heavier dumbbells working close to failure. Cardio classes are also circuit style with the intention of increasing your heart rate and working on cardiovascular endurance.
I am a beginner — can i attend all classes?
It is recommended that beginners start in our Pilates Flow classes as these classes are programmed for all levels. You’ll learn body awareness, better posture, balance and work on improving technique on the mat. Instructors offer modifications and progressions so you can work at your own pace. Strength classes are not complicated, but do require some knowledge gained by regular attendance in our Flow classes. Cardio classes are not suitable for beginners or pre/post natal clients.
